On April 22, 2026, the report on the evaluation of the National Citizens’ Assembly on Climate (Nationaal Burgerberaad Klimaat) was made public. REDRESS researchers Kristof Jacobs and Take Sipma, together with Christine Bleijenberg (The Hague University of Applied Sciences), conducted independent research into the preparation, design, and course of the National Citizens’ Assembly on Climate.
During the citizens’ assembly, 175 citizens who reflected Dutch society in terms of age, gender, province, education, and attitude toward climate, discussed the question: how can we, as the Netherlands, eat, use goods, and travel in a way that is better for the climate? This resulted in a set of recommendations that was presented to representatives of the government and parliament on December 1.
The evaluation report has been picked up by various media outlets, including Trouw, NOS, NU.nl, and NRC.
